Despite the record number of fatal drug overdoses last year, Americans in need of addiction treatment are forced to navigate a punishing gauntlet of barriers to access care. OHSU’s Project IMPACT is working to change that.

Join Project IMPACT director and OHSU residency alum Honora Englander M.D., R ’06 as she discusses her work to improve the standard of care for hospitalized adults with substance use disorder. Through clinical innovation, research, and education, Project IMPACT is working to shift the view of addiction from one of shame and stigma to one that embraces belonging, treatment, and healing.

Presented by:

Honora Englander M.D. is founder and director of OHSU’s Project IMPACT, a nationally recognized model for hospital-based addiction care. Dr. Englander has received numerous awards for her work transforming health systems including being named one of the Portland Business Journal’s Forty under 40 in 2015.  She has spoken at the National Academy of Sciences and published research in numerous medical journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of Hospital Medicine, and the Journal of Addiction Medicine.
